CCC QUARTERFINALS: Endicott Advances with 3-0 Win Over Curry

BEVERLY, Mass. - The No. 1 seeded Endicott women's soccer team advanced to the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) semifinals with a 3-0 win over No. 8 Curry on Saturday night in the quarterfinal round. Endicott, now 11-3-2, will play host to No. 4 seeded Gordon on Wednesday at 5:00 PM, while Curry ends its season with an overall record of 8-10-1.

Madeline Mucher (Andover, Mass.) got the Gulls on the board first as she was on the end of a Jaymie Caponigro (Swampscott, Mass.) through ball. Caponigro slipped the pass through the Curry back line down the right side of the box to Mucher, and the senior's first touch was to fire it on net to give Endicott the 1-0 edge in the 23rd minute. 

Despite holding a 12-5 edge in shots in the first half, four of which were on goal, Mucher's tally would hold true until the end of the opening 45 minutes of play as the Gulls held a 1-0 lead at the break.

The second half would see Endicott put two more goals on the scoreboard, the first of which came from CCC Rookie of the Year Riley Rischitelli (North Brookfield, Mass.). The freshman ran onto a ball around 40 yards out from goal and made a long run down the right-wing. Rischitelli was able to shake a Curry defender 15 yards out and created enough space to allow her to take a shot from seven yards out that slipped just inside the far post to give Endicott the 2-0 lead at the 52:57 mark.

Mucher would score her second of the match just over 15 minutes later when Rischitelli made another long run down the right sideline. The North Brookfield, Mass. native put a cross into the box that glanced off the Curry keeper and to the foot of Mucher who turned quickly and fired that ball into the net to give Endicott the 3-0 final.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

• Endicott is now 25-2 all-time against Curry.
• The Gulls have won the last 17 meetings between the two programs.
• Rosalina Caliri (East Greenwich, R.I.) improves to 7-1-0 on the season with five shutouts after making three saves on the night.
• Rischitelli now leads the team with 18 points while Mucher and Caponigro are tied for second with 15 each.

WHAT'S NEXT

Top-seeded Endicott (11-3-2) advances to the CCC semifinals for the sixth straight season where they will play host to fourth-seeded Gordon on Wednesday at 5:00 PM. Curry (8-11-1) sees its 2021 campaign come to a close.
