Sezon Nets Game-Winner to Lift Endicott Over UNE 2-1

BIDDEFORD, Maine - With just over three minutes remaining in regulation, Brady Sezon (Easton, Conn.) scored her second of the season to lift the Endicott women's soccer team to a 2-1 victory over the University of New England. With the win, Endicott remains undefeated in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) play, improving to 7-0-1, and 10-4-1 overall, while UNE falls to 2-5-1 in CCC play and 7-8-2 overall. 

At the 86:28 mark, Sezon was able to take a pass back from Rachel Hanna (Chelmsford, Mass.) and put her shot into the upper left corner to give Endicott the 2-1 advantage. The goal was also Sezon's second career game-winner, the first of which came last year against Springfield.

The assist was Hanna's third point of the match, as the first two came at the 15:35 mark of the first half, when she scored her team-leading 13th goal of the season. The senior forward was able to work a give and go with junior Mary Verneris (Hamden, Conn.) to give the Gulls the early 1-0 lead. Hanna's goal was also her seventh of the season in CCC play, which ties her with Verneris for first among all CCC players.

The Nor'Easters got on the board in the 61st minute when Katie Beaudoin (Coventry, R.I.) scored her 14th goal of the season. Her shot from the top of the box snuck into the top left corner of the net to even the score at 1-1, in what would be the only offense UNE could account for all day.

BEYOND THE BOX

• Endicott is now 15-10-1 all-time against UNE, having won the last two meetings between the two schools.
• Shelby Elwell (Litchfield, Conn.) made five saves in the victory as her personal record improved to 9-2-1 on the season.
• Hanna now has 13 goals and 6 assists on the season for a total of 32 points. Her 32 points lead all CCC players.
• The Gulls out-shot the Nor'Easters 19-14, while both squads earned three corners.
• With 10 wins now on the season, Jodi Kenyon has achieved 10 wins or more in 12 of her 13 seasons. Today's win now gives her 185 career victories as the head coach of the Endicott Gulls.

FOR THE FOES

• Emily Ashman (Madison, Conn.) made seven saves in net for the Nor'Easters as her record fell to 4-6-1. 
• Becca Murphy (Durham, N.H.) finished with four shots in the match, two of which were on goal.

Endicott plays host to the Eastern Connecticut State Warriors at 2:00 p.m. for Senior Day when Endicott will honor their 10 seniors. The Nor'Easters are back in action on Wednesday when they travel to Dudley, Mass. for a 3:00 p.m. start against Nichols.
