Endicott Women Claim 2-0 CCC Victory Over Western New England on Senior Day
BOSTON, Mass.- As the Gulls celebrated the accomplished careers of eight seniors, the Endicott women’s soccer team claimed a 2-0 Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) victory over Western New England to improve to 7-5-2 (4-1-1 CCC) on the season. With the setback, Western New England falls to 3-11-2 (1-4-1 CCC).

With the setback, Western New England falls to 3-11-2 (1-4-1 CCC).
Before the match, the Gulls honored eight graduating seniors in (Left to Right in story image) Paige Marinelli (Burlington, Conn.), Madison McKinley (Shrewsbury, Mass.), LeeAnn Card (Paxton, Mass.), Laura Wysocki (Somers, Conn.), Ashley Mueskes (Georgetown, Mass.), Emily Rodewald (Canton, Conn.), Katherine Chipman (Brunswick, Maine) and Betsy Albiani (Stoneham, Mass.) and their families.
Endicott would dominate the possession battle in both halves, out-shooting the visitors 22-5 for the match while also earning eight corners to the Golden Bears' zero. The Gulls posted eight shots in the first and 14 in the second while earning an even four corners in each frame.
The hosts would get on the board in the 36th minute of play when senior Paige Marinelli would place a perfect cross into the box. Freshman Sharlotte Pernice (West Springfield, Mass.) ran under it and fired a one-timer past the WNE keeper and into the net to give the Gulls the 1-0 advantage late in the first.
Endicott would then double the lead late in the second half as a pair of seniors capped their Senior Day perfectly. The play developed as Emily Rodewald took the ball down the left sideline and dished it off to Ashley Mueskes around the top left corner of the box. Mueskes turn and displayed a perfect combination of power and touch as she placed her shot perfectly in the upper far corner to seal the Endicott win at 2-0.
BEYOND THE BOX
- For this group of seniors, the women have combined to record 54 goals and 32 assists in their careers. The group has a combined record of 47-21-12 overall and a CCC record of 25-5-3 as they have qualified for postseason play in all three of their previous seasons including an ECAC Championship as freshman and a CCC Chamionship/NCAA 2nd Round appearance as sophomores.
- For Mueskes, the goal is her sixth of the season and 14th point of the year, both of which lead the Gulls. For both categories, she leads fellow senior Paige Marinelli who recorded her 13th point on the year with her fifth assist, which leads the Gulls as well.
- Sophomore goalie Caroline Armbruster (Stowe, Vt.) notched her sixth win of the season as she improved to 6-2-2 since earning the starting job while the shutout was her third of the season and third straight.
- The win is number 160 for head coach Jodi Kenyon during her tenure at Endicott. Her record now stands 160-58-20 overall and 101-18-4 in CCC play in now her 11th year at the helm.
FOR THE FOES
- Western New England keeper Briana Kubik (Blanford, Mass.) registered nine saves in the setback which ties for her third highest save total of the season behind an 11 save effort in the team's 1-0 loss to Roger Williams, and a 17 save effort in the team's 2-2, 2OT tie against Gordon.
- Junior Katelyn Cummings (Feeding Hills, Mass.) recorded two shots, one of which was on goal, to lead the Western New England offense.
WHAT'S NEXT
Endicott gets to stay home for two of their three remaining regular season contests, beginning on Wednesday with a 7:00 p.m. match against Wentworth. The Gulls then travel to Salve Regina on Saturday for a 12:00 p.m. match before returning home on Tuesday, October 27th to close out the regular season with a home match against bitter cross-town and CCC rival Gordon at 4:00 p.m. Western New England hosts Salve Regina and Nichols on Tuesday and Saturday before heading to Curry on the last day of the regular season. Endicott Men Finish Fourth at Saints Invitational as Marshall Finishes Fifth
BOSTON, Mass.- Behind four top-25 finishes, the Endicott men's cross country team posted a fourth place finish at the Emmanuel Saints Invitational at Franklin Park in the tune-up for the Commonwealth Coast Conference Championship. The Gulls will have two weeks of preparation before competing at the CCC Championship in Bristol, R.I. at Roger Williams.
The Gulls saw their top four runners finish in the top-25 overall as they were led by Zach Marshall's (Hinesburg, Vt.) fifth place showing overall. The sophomore traversed the 7.95k course in a time of 26:51.53, just 21 seconds off the winning pace.
Freshmen Austin Landry () and Patrick Finocchiaro (Salem, N.H.) finished back-to-back in 14th and 15th place. Landry recorded a time of 27:27.84 while Finocchiaro logged a time of 27:32.55. Sophomore James Dwyer () crossed in a time of 27:59.89 to finish 22nd overall, his first top-25 showing of the season as he continues to get stronger as the season progresses.
Noah Mondello (Gloucester, Mass.) closed out the Endicott scoring with a 52nd place showing with a time of 29:13.96. Freshman Brendan Sasse () continued to run well, placing 74th in the field of 203 with a time of 29:50.25.
INSIDE THE TIMES
Marshall and Landry continue to ride an impressive streak as the duo finished 1-2 for the Gulls for the second straight race. Marshall has now finished as Endicott's top runner in every race this season and last.
The Gulls finished behind only Wentworth, Norwich and Fitchburg State as the Gulls closed the race with a score of 106, 10 points better than Plymouth State in fifth.
WHAT'S NEXT
Endicott has two weeks to prepare for their postseason run that begins on October 31st with the CCC Championship at Roger Williams. That is followed by the NCAA DIII New England Regionals on November 14th at the Harkness Memorial Park in Waterford, Conn. If the Gulls qualify, the NCAA DIII National Championships are held the following week, November 21st, in Winneconne, Wis.
