BEVERLY, Mass. – Endicott got five goals from sophomore Siri Mason (Williamstown, Mass.) and outshot their opponents 41-10 en route to a 21-2 victory over Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) foe Roger Wiliams on Friday afternoon at Endicott Stadium. The Gulls improved to 5-0 in the CCC and 8-5 overall, while Roger Williams drops their fourth consecutive game and levels at 3-3 in the conference (5-8 overall).
Endicott Junior Callie Murphy (Woburn, Mass.) added seven points on three goals and four assists, while Holly Davis (Guilford, Conn.) had three goals and three helpers and her fellow senior Kelly Tierney (South Hadley, Mass.) scored four times and assisted on two other goals.
The home team took a 10-0 lead into the halftime break, as Davis tallied in the first twenty seconds of play after taking the draw control won by Rachel Campos (Shrewsbury, Mass.), who won five draws and caused four turnovers for the Gulls, both game-highs. Murphy scored twice with Mason tallying in-between and then sophomore Katie Tierney (South Hadley, Mass.) scored in between two goals by her sister Kelly, before Mason scored twice to complete her first-half hat-trick and Davis added her third goal of the game four minutes from halftime.
The Gulls started the second half with five-different goal scorers and jumped out to a 16-0 advantage before Kristen Pingree (Georgetown, Mass.) broke the Roger Williams drought with her 36th goal of the year at 15:36.
Mason scored again for the Blue and Green and Davis netted her hat trick with her 40th goal of the season with 8:30 to play, though Hawks junior Danielle Neagle (Avon, Conn.) connected on a free-position attempt for her 26th goal of the year with just under 2:30 left.
The Gulls did not let up until the final whistle, as Katie Tierney collected another score and sophomore Taylor Rogerson (Washington Depot, Conn.) tallied two goals and one assist in the final 1:11 of the game.
Endicott caused 15 turnovers in the contest, three of them by senior Lauren Todd (Newfields, N.H.), who also had a goal and two assists, while the visitors forced just four miscues. The Gulls also had a 17-8 advantage in ground balls and a 15-8 edge in draw controls, though Neagle did win four draws and Mackenzie Logan (Sussex, N.J.) won three draws for the Hawks.
Junior goalkeeper Rachel Socolow (Westford, Mass.) was forced to make just two saves and was also helped by a Hawks shot by Pingree that hit off the crossbar in the second half.
Her counterpart, Hawks' senior Justine Sullivan (Norwell, Mass.) made 11 saves in defeat.
The Gulls will have the rest of the weekend off and will continue play within the CCC next Tuesday when they travel to University of New England for a 4:00 pm game.
Roger Williams is off one more day than the Gulls, and will be back in the confines of Bristol, R.I. for their final three games, starting Thursday at 4:00 pm against Gordon College.
