Gulls Tie with Boston College in 2014 Finale

GLOUCESTER, Mass. – The Endicott women's ice hockey team hosted Boston College last Sunday for a non-league matchup. Despite the three straight goals from the Gulls in the first and second period, the Eagles were able to answer back with three goals in the third period to secure a 3-3 tie. Endicott will finish December at 5-2-1 as they take the rest of the month off and play next in the New Year on January 31^st at 3:00 p.m. at the University of New Hampshire.

The Gulls opened up the contest with an early goal in the first period as freshman Maggie Layo (Sandwich, Mass.) worked to goal with freshman Chloe Castellano (Wilmington, Mass.) to beat the Eagles goaltender.

The second period was again controlled by the Blue and Green as they tallied two goals to kick the lead up the three. The first came from Castellano who took advantage of a power-play opportunity with Sara Ellis (Weymouth, Mass.) and sophomore Martha Crowley (Castleton, N.Y.) for the 2 goal advantage. Five minutes later Crowley would score the final goal for the Gulls on another power-play opportunity with freshmen's Gabby Boualavanh (Cape Ceddick, Maine) and Alyson Alissi (West Hartford, Conn.) to take a 3-0 lead entering the second intermission.

In the third period the Blue and Green could not capitalize on the offensive end while the Eagles took advantage of their chances by scoring three goals in a five minute span to secure the tie.

Senior goaltender Taylor Witham (Cumberland, Maine) skated away with 58 saves while her counterpart, Sophie Layton finished the game with 38.
