Women's Basketball Handles Babson In Home Opener, 64-53
BEVERLY, Mass. — The Endicott women's basketball team won its 2025-26 home opener against Babson, 64-53, on Friday evening inside MacDonald Gymnasium.
Emma Shinney (Wakefield, Mass.) led the way with a game-high 19 points. She also dished out five dimes, snagged four boards, and swiped three steals in her 39 minutes of play.
Tenley Wallin (Danbury, Conn.) scored a season-high 18 points (6-12 FG, 4-6 3PT) and secured five rebounds on the evening, while Tricia Wladkowski (Norwood, Mass.) supplied 11 points (3-8 FG, 1-2 3PT, 4-4 FT) and eight boards (four offensive, four defensive) from off the bench.
Aleah Bracey (New Bedford, Mass.) stuffed the stat sheet with her seven points, eight rebounds, and two assists.
The Gulls outscored the Beavers in all four quarters (17-16, 10-7, 13-10, and 24-20) to pull off the big non-conference victory.
With the Beavers out to a 12-8 lead through the first 6:12 of play, the Gulls confidently closed the first quarter on a 9-4 run to take the 17-16 lead heading to the second. A deuce inside from Sofia Mazzotta (Billerica, Mass.) and a triple from Wallin highlighted the mini run.
Endicott continued to add pressure in the second, limiting the Beavers to just seven points in the stanza.
Ahead 27-23 at half, Wallin and Shinney opened the second half with back-to-back triples to push the Endicott lead to eight (33-25).
The Beavers closed the gap back to two (35-33), but some clutch outside shooting from Bracey and Wallin paired with a nice paint score from Mia McGarrity (Ridgefield, Conn.) gave the Gulls a seven-point cushion (40-33) heading to the fourth.
The high-octane fourth quarter featured more total points (44) than the second and third quarters combined (40).
Endicott kicked things off with an immediate 7-2 run sparked by a Mazzotta and-one finish and consecutive Shinney layups.
A few minutes later, Wallin and Wladkowski knocked down back-to-back three-pointers to give the Gulls a game-high 14-point lead with just 3:23 remaining.
The two teams traded fouls and free throws late in the contest, but Endicott eventually prevailed with its 64-53 home win.
