Men's Lacrosse Places Three On NEILA All-New England Team
BEVERLY, Mass. — Three members of the Endicott men's lacrosse team have earned 2024 New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (NEILA) All-New England Honors.
BEVERLY, Mass. — Three members of the Endicott men's lacrosse team have earned 2024 New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (NEILA) Division III All-New England Honors.
Thomas Barker (Needham, Mass.) and Ethan Cupples (Marshfield, Mass.) both were named to the All-New England second-team while Guerin Favreau (Woodstock Valley, Conn.) garnered All-New England third-team honors.
This is the first All-New England honor for all three.
All-New England nominees are submitted by their coaches and the teams are voted by coaches within their respective divisions.
Teams are selected in the following amounts, though there may be more honorees in the event of ties: 3 Attack, 3 Midfield, 3 Defense, 1 Goalie, 1 Short-Stick Defensive Midfielder, 1 Long-Stick Midfielder, and 1 Face-off.
Barker finished the season going 325-476 at the faceoff "X" and scooping up 236 groundballs. Five times this season Barker won 20 or more faceoffs including 29 against MIT on 3/6, which set a new program record for most faceoffs won in a game.
Cupples, the conference's Defensive Player and Short-Stick Midfielder of the Year, was part of a defensive unit that held teams to 10 goals or less, 10 times throughtout the season. The Marshfield native added six goals and one assist for seven points.
Playing in all 18 games this season, Favreau scored 38 goals and added 28 assists for 66 points this season. The junior recorded at least one point in every game this season, while recording three or more goals seven times.
YEAR IN REVIEW
No. 17 Endicott finished the season with an overall record of 16-2 and went 7-0 in conference play.
The first-seeded Gulls captured the program's 11th conference title, earning the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. Endicott would fall to No. 9 Swarthmore, 14-9, in the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament.
