Rookie of the Year Colin Bannon Leads Five Gulls on ECAC New England Teams
CENTERVILLE, Mass. – Freshman attacker Colin Bannon (Westport, Conn.) headlined a group of Endicott men’s lacrosse players that were placed on the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III New England All-Star Team with Rookie of the Year and First Team honors as five Gulls were recognized with regional accolades. Bannon became the first player in Endicott history to be named ECAC New England Rookie of the Year while the five honorees are the most the program has seen in any previous season.

CENTERVILLE, Mass. – Freshman attacker Colin Bannon (Westport, Conn.) headlined a group of Endicott men's lacrosse players that were placed on the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III New England All-Star Team with Rookie of the Year and First Team honors as five Gulls were recognized with regional accolades. Bannon became the first player in Endicott history to be named ECAC New England Rookie of the Year while the five honorees are the most the program has seen in any previous season.
Bannon was voted the ECAC Division III New England Men's Lacrosse Rookie of the Year after putting together one of the finest freshman seasons in Endicott history. He tallied 28 goals and handed out 22 assists for 70 points in his first season of intercollegiate lacrosse. Bannon helped the Gulls advance to the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Tournament title game and a berth in the NCAA Tournament. In seven conference matchups, he amassed 32 points on 19 goals and 13 assists. Bannon was also named the CCC Rookie of the Year and All-Commonwealth Coast Conference First Team as well as New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (NEILA) Rookie of the Year.
Joining Bannon on the ECAC New England All-Star First Team were senior defenseman Breck Merritt (Weston, Mass.), junior midfielder Harrison Cotter (Lordship, Conn.), and sophomore goalie Cameron Bell (Falmouth, Maine). Junior defenseman Chris Cooney (Cranston, R.I.) earned a spot on the ECAC New England Second Team.
Bell, Cotter, and Merritt were previously honored as United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) All-Americans with Bell and Cotter earning Defense and Offensive Player of the Year awards from the CCC. Bell went 15-5 as the team's starting goalie, sported an 8.28 goals against average, and a .579 save percentage with 202 saves this season. Cotter was one of the premier offensive weapons in the country with 74 overall points on 61 goals and 13 assists. He had five game-winning goals, 10 man-up goals, and one man-down goal. Merritt wrapped up his collegiate career with a team-high 34 caused turnovers with 58 ground balls while earning his third All-CCC First Team award. Cooney had a breakout junior season in 2014 as he was named to the All-CCC First Team after causing 27 turnovers and scooping 28 ground balls.
