For his role in the team's perfect week, freshman Colin Bannon was named as the CCC Player of the Week for the first time in his career. Last week, Bannon received Rookie of the Week honors. In the team's 9-6 win over NESCAC foe Connecticut College, Bannon continued his stellar play to open his Endicott career as he notched four goals on just seven shots. He followed that performance up with another multi-goal game as he netted three more on six shots in the win over Eastern Connecticut.
Bell, who was named CCC Defensive Player of the Week for his work against Stevens the previous week, received the honor for a second time this season after providing stellar play between the pipes in the wins. Against Conn., Bell stepped up to make six saves to hold the Camels to just six goals. He followed that performance up with a 13 save effort as the Gulls shut down the Warriors of Eastern Connecticut by allowing just three goals. On the week, Bell made 19 saves and recorded a save percentage of .679.
Hughes rounded out the trio of awards as he received the first CCC Rookie of the Week honors of his career. The freshman face-off specialist was dominant on the week, going a combined 28 for 36 on face-offs (77.8%) while also recording 17 ground balls. Against the Camels, Hughes recorded seven ground balls and was 14 for 19 on face-offs (73.7%). The first year player elevated his play against the Warriors as he was 14 of 17 on face-offs (82.4%) while also recording a career high 10 ground balls.
Bannon, Bell, Hughes and the rest of the Endicott team square off against the University of New England tomorrow night as the game was moved up a day due to impending weather on Wednesday night. The Gulls are looking to avenge last year's defeat at the hands of the Nor'Easters.
