The Jumbos got on the scoreboard first just 31 seconds into the game on a Chris Schoenhut (Mill Neck, N.Y.) goal with an assist to Bailey. Endicott answered to make it 1-1 at the 12:21 mark of the first on Eppley first’s goal, an unassisted tally. Both team’s went scoreless for the next 11 and a half minutes until Tufts attacker Sean Kirwan (Boonton Township, N.J.) put the Jumbos ahead off a pass from Jordan Korinis (Ridgewood, N.J.) to take the 2-1 lead going in the second quarter.
Tufts quickly scored again early in the second to go up 3-1 as Kevin McCormick (Laytonsville, Md.) scored the first of his two goals on an unassisted strike. The Gulls once again responded just over a minute later at 12:01 with Harry Holden’s (Duxbury, Mass.) second goal of the season from Eppley to cut the lead back down to one goal. Endicott would not score again until the 11:35 mark of the third quarter as Tufts ran off three straight to go up 6-2.
Eppley broke that streak with another unassisted tally in the third quarter, but Tufts went on another run to take a commanding 10-3 advantage. Weber and Prescott helped Endicott score two of the last three goals, with Wood’s hat trick coming in between, but the Gulls came up short against their nationally-ranked foe.
Endicott goalie Tom Burke (Sudbury, Mass.) suffered the loss, making seven saves in goal before giving way to Conley Cummings (Simsbury, Conn.) who made another six in second half action.
Endicott now looks forward to their Saturday match up against CCC opponent Roger Williams in Bristol, R.I. The Gulls remain unbeaten in conference play at 4-0.
