Day’s Overtime Game-Winner Lifts No. 5/6 Endicott Past Johnson & Wales, 3-2

BEVERLY, Mass. – Logan Day's (Seminole, Fla.) goal at 2:36 of overtime gave the No. 5/6 nationally ranked Endicott men's ice hockey team a 3-2 victory Johnson & Wales University (JWU) on Friday night at Raymond J. Bourque Arena. 

Day one-timed home the game-winner from the slot past Wildcats' goaltender Mike Rockwell (Poughquag, N.Y.) off a feed from Jack Kilty (Medway, Mass.) who dished out a clean pass to the defenseman from the right corner. Luke Rodgers (Clarkston, Mich.) also was credited with an assist on the game-winning tally. 

Endicott held a late 2-1 lead in the third, but Victor Carlsson's (Calmar, Sweden) wrap around goal near the right post with 1:07 remaining in the contest forced overtime. 

The Wildcats also received a goal from Connor Bechtel (Doylestown, Pa.) in the second (1:09) to even the score at 1-1, while Santino Ragone (Babylon, N.Y.) opened up the scoring in the matchup (12:30, first), and Connor Costello (Nottingham, N.H.) gave the Gulls a 2-1 lead at the 1:37 mark of the third with a slapper from the point. 

Meanwhile, in goal, Endicott netminder Justin Ketola (Esko, Minn.) had 21 saves in the win (5-0-0) and Rockwell stopped a game-high 51 shots (one shy of his career-high) in the loss (4-7-0). 

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

• Day buried his second game-winning goal of the season and fifth of his career tonight.
• Day also had an assist on Ragone's first career goal as a Gull.
• Endicott is 6-0-0 against JWU.
• The Gulls have outscored the Wildcats 24-11 in the all-time series (one shutout, first overtime game).
• Josh Bowes (Edmonton, Alberta, Canada) won a game-high 16 face-offs. 
• Head coach R.J. Tolan earned his 50th career win at Endicott.

FOR THE FOES

• Chad Guderian (Coppell, Texas) won a team-high 14 face-offs and assisted on Carlsson's game-tying tally.
• Jason Recchia (Shelby Township, Mich.) blocked a game-high four shots.

No. 5/6 Endicott (10-1-0, 9-0-0 CCC) travels to Pawtucket, Rhode Island tomorrow to complete its home-and-home series with JWU (4-9-0, 3-6-0 CCC) at 5:35 PM at the Lynch Arena/Blackstone Valley Sports Center.
