Men’s Ice Hockey Tops Johnson & Wales, 5-3

PAWTUCKET, R.I. – Behind a pair of goals from Ross Olsson (Billerica, Mass.) and Cam Bleck (Lake Forest, Ill.), the Endicott men's ice hockey team defeated Johnson & Wales University, 5-3, on Saturday night at Lynch Arena.

Endicott led by as many as three goals (4-1) late in the third period, but the Wildcats rallied for back-to-back tallies with an extra attacker on the ice at 18:21 and 19:24, respectively, to draw within one with less than a minute to play. Bleck silenced the comeback attempt, however, when he notched his second goal of the game – and third of the season – with an empty netter with one second to go in the contest.

Logan Day (Seminole, Fla.) was credited with the game-winner for the Gulls on his first goal in an Endicott uniform at 15:37 of the third, on the power play.

Kevin Aldridge (Birmingham, Mich.) recorded 28 saves to improve to 1-2-2 overall, while Joey Ballmer (Kalamazoo, Mich.) notched 20 saves in the loss (2-3-0).

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

• Along with his pair of goals, Olsson also registered two assists to tie his career-high and the single-game program record for points with four total (Becker, 2/10/16 | Johnson & Wales, 11/12/16).
• Endicott is 3-0-0 against Johnson & Wales in the all-time series.
• The Gulls have outscored the Wildcats, 12-5, combined in the three meetings between the programs.
• Day, Jason Kalinowski (Stamford, Conn.), Thomas Daniels (St. Louis, Mo.), and Tommy Besinger (Milton, Mass.) all had assists in the win.
• Ryan Dougherty (Sterling Heights, Mich.) tied Olsson for the game-high in blocked shots with two.
• Jack Musil (Hull, England) was dominant at the face-off circle winning a game-high 15 attempts out of 20 total.

FOR THE FOES

• Frank Mackin (Philadelphia, Pa.), Ben Brouillard (Somerset, Mass.), and Stefan Brucato (Lake Elsinore, Calif.) all scored in the loss.
• Brouillard also had an assist, while Matt Lanzillotti (Chicago, Ill.) chipped in with two as well.
• Since scoring a combined 12 goals in its first two games, Johnson & Wales has been held to three goals or less in in its last three contests.

Endicott (1-2-2, 1-2-1 CCC) travels to Wentworth on Thursday, November 17 for a conference matchup scheduled for 7 p.m. Johnson & Wales (2-3-0, 0-3-0 CCC) visits the University of New England next Thursday for a league game at 7 p.m.
