Golf Finishes 31st as a Team; Teal Makes Cut as Individual
GREENSBORO, N.C.- In their inaugural NCAA Championship appearance, the Endicott golf team finished in 31st place out of 41 squads, finishing outside the cut as the top 15 teams advance. Playing at the Grandover Resort and Conference Center on the East and West Courses, the Gulls represented the Commonwealth Coast Conference’s (CCC) first ever showing at the Championship and finished better than 10 squads. Endicott was led by sophomore Austin Teal (Loudonville, N.Y.) who finished tied for 12th out of the 210 player field, and with that, has now advanced in the tournament as an individual.

Teal, also an All-CCC First Team honoree, shot an opening round of 74 (+2) on the opening day before closing with a 70 (-2) to close the elimination portion at even par 144. After making the cut, he now will compete over the next two days against players from the top 15 teams and the other nine individuals.
Following Teal for the Gulls was senior Zach Golojuch (Saco, Maine), who capped his career with a final round of 75. Golojuch finished tied for 116th after a two day total of 156. Just behind the senior was sophomore Alex Viola (Brunswick, Maine) who shot a combined 161 to finish in a tie for 152nd. Finishing fourth for Endicott and 186th overall was Nick Erlichman (Shrewsbury, Mass.) as he posted rounds of 81 (+9) and 80 (+8) to total 161. Rounding out the competition for Endicott was Jake Rand who posted a two round total of 189. All five players saw an improvement from day one to day two. Teal was able to improve four strokes (74, 70), Golojuch six (81, 75), Viola one (81, 80), Erlichman six (87, 81), and Rand with an impressive 11 stroke turnaround (100, 89).
With Teal still in the competition, the team will remain in North Carolina until Saturday. At the time of suspension due to weather in the third round, Teal had taken another stroke off his total to sit at -1 for the tournament and is currently locked in a tie for 8th place, just four strokes off the lead.
