No. 12 Field Hockey Tops Nichols, 9-0
DUDLEY, Mass. — The No. 12 Endicott field hockey team defeated Nichols, 9-0, in Conference of New England (CNE) play on Saturday afternoon at Vendetti Field.
Lily Johnson (Paxton, Mass.) got the scoring started for the Gulls just under six minutes into the contest. The senior took an insert pass from Tori Swanson (Farmington, Conn.) at the top of the circle and blasted home her second goal of the season. Maddy Dengler (Winchester, Mass.) put Endicott up 2-0 in the first quarter as Elena Govoni (Walpole, Mass.) found Dengler on the back post.
Then with 22 seconds left in the first quarter, Abby Antonelli (Worcester, Mass.) connected with Sabrina Brunet (South Burlington, Vt.) for another goal and a 3-0 lead to end the first quarter.
In the second quarter, Sydney Cappallo (Yarmouth Port, Mass.) and Natalia Correia (Tyngsboro, Mass.) both tallied goals to give the Blue and Green a 5-0 lead at halftime.
Coming out of halftime, the Gulls offense continued to find the back of goal first with an Antonelli marker and Riley Perkins (Lakeville, Mass.) penalty stroke conversion in the third quarter pushed the advantage to 7-0.
Govoni and Cappallo continued the scoring in the fourth quarter securing the 9-0 road victory.
Faith Minickene (Madison, Conn.) secured her 12th win of the season in 45 minutes of action as she made three saves. Kaelin Fish (Burnt Hills, N.Y.) appeared in her first career goal for the Gulls as she took over in goal for the final 15 minutes.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Endicott is now 28-4 all-time against Nichols (17th straight victory)
- First career goal and first career multi-goal game for Cappallo.
- Fourth consecutive game with goal for Perkins.
- Eighth game this season scoring five or more goals for the Gulls.

No. 12 Endicott (12-1, 5-0 CNE) hosts Trinity (Conn.) tomorrow, Sunday, October 12th at 12 PM for Senior Day. Nichols (2-11, 0-5 CNE) welcomes Western Connecticut St. to campus on Tuesday, October 14th for a 7 PM matchup.
