Curry Slips Past Endicott, 17-7

BEVERLY, Mass. – A late fourth quarter six-yard touchdown run from Curry senior quarterback Alex Corvese (Cranston, R.I.) was the difference as the Colonels topped Endicott, 17-7, in conference play on Saturday afternoon at Hempstead Stadium. 

The Gulls trailed 10-7 headed into the fourth quarter after Lavante Wiggins (Pittsfield, Mass.) hauled in a catch on a wheel route at Curry's 34-yard line and took it the house to make it a one-possession game (14:06, third quarter). 

Both teams then compiled eight possessions, combined, prior to Curry's nine-play, 75 yard, five minute and 41-second drive capped off by Corvese's hurdling run into the end zone. The Gulls, meanwhile, had two chances down the stretch to make the contest interesting but only produced 31 yards on seven plays. 

FOR ENDICOTT

• Joe Kalosky (Plymouth, Conn.) completed 14 passes on 30 attempts (two interceptions) to go along with 155 yards and his lone touchdown pass to Wiggins in the third quarter.
• Wiggins registered 42 yards on the ground and 64 yards receiving for a team-high 106 all-purpose yards.
• Andrew Hancock (Commack, N.Y.) caught three passes, while Riley Shanley (Simsbury, Conn.), Brett Sherman (Northborough, Mass.), and Will Genaway (Hinsdale, Mass.) all had two receptions apiece.
• William Rivera (Orangeburg, N.Y.), Sam Opont (Bridgeport, Conn.), and Christian Filonow (Nashua, N.H.) all tied for the game-high in tackles with nine each.
• Allen Gibson (Seymour, Conn.) notched eight tackles and one forced fumble
• Stone Murray (Latham, N.Y.) and Dylan Hutchinson (Winslow, Maine) both had fumble recoveries.
• Brett Fox (Niantic, Conn.) had five punts for a total of 240 yards (48.0 average, 65 long, two inside-20). 

FOR CURRY

• The Colonels outgained Endicott 387-191 and held a 39:04-20:56 advantage in time of possession.
• Corvese punched home the first score of the game on a 16-yard scamper at 11:19 of the first. He finished the day 16-for-22 passing for 120 yards alongside his 97 yards rushing on 14 attempts and two TD runs.
• Sean Amaru (Westwood, Mass.) collected 140 yards on the ground on a game-high 27 attempts (5.2 average).
• Mike DelGais (East Rockaway, N.Y.) led all receivers with five catches, while Nick Villanueva (Hanson, Mass.) had four receptions for 44 yards.
• On defense, Curry notched two interceptions, eight pass breakups, and four quarterback hurries.
• Joseph Patti (Woburn, Mass.) and Aidan Cawley (Abington, Mass.) had one interception each.
• Jeremy Eliades (Berlin, Conn.) and Cameron Sass (Bridgewater, Mass.) both tied for the team-high in tackles with six apiece.

Endicott (1-7, 0-3 CCC Football) travels to Nichols next Saturday for a 12 PM matchup. Curry (7-1, 3-0 CCC Football) hosts Western New England next Saturday at 1 PM.
