Endicott Falls to Bates, 91-53

LEWISTON, ME - Bates College exploded in a second half effort, outscoring Endicott 53-20, en route to a 91-53 win in a non-league men's basketball game Monday night in Lewiston, Maine.
The Bobcats (4-0) out-rebounded the Gulls (1-3) 44-17, while shooting 52.3 percent from the field overall. The victory avenges a 53-52 loss from a year ago to the three-time defending Commonwealth Coast Conference champions.
Senior Rob Stockwell (Temple, NH/New Hampton School) scored a game-high 24 points on 10-of-15 shooting from the floor, including 3-for-5 from three-point range. Stockwell also added a game-high eight rebounds in the win. Fellow Bobcat Bryan Wholey (Marshfield, MA/BC High) added 21 points, three assists and two steals for Bates.
Endicott was led by senior Mike Sullivan (Marshfield, MA/Marshfield) as he scored a team-high 17 points, shooting 5-of-8 from the field and 7-of-8 at the line. Sophomore Ross Stewart (Palm Harbor, FL/East Lake High School) added nine points for Endicott in the losing effort.
The Gulls shot 14-for-27 (51.9%) in the first half to keep pace with the Bobcats, who shot 14-for-26 (53.8%) and took a 38-33 lead into halftime. However the Gulls struggled in the second frame, converting just six field goals on 19 attempts over the final 20 minutes. Meanwhile Bates found their groove in the second half, as they ran away with a 53 point final period.
Endicott returns to action on Thursday night, as they host the Engineer's of MIT at 7:00pm.
