BEVERLY, Mass. — The Endicott field hockey team fell to WPI, 1-0, on Saturday afternoon at North Field.
Strong defensive performances by both teams left the game deadlocked at zero until Samantha Robinson found the back of the net at the 17:40 mark to push the Engineers ahead.
In goal, Alexis DeMattia (Methuen, Mass.) stopped four shots in the setback (1-2). Maddy Young (Hingham, Mass.) recorded two defensive saves in the defeat.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Despite the loss, the Gulls still own the all-time series, 3-1.
- Young now has three defensive saves in her career.
- The two teams finished tied 6-6 on penalty corners.
